We welcome you to
Ballito Bay Montessori Pre- School

Ballito Bay Montessori opened its doors in June 1992 with a group of around 20 children. By January 1996 we had grown to accommodate 75 children and had a staff compliment of 4 Directresses and 2 assistants.

In January 2010 we bought a property and moved our school to 28 Robbins Road, Salt Rock.

We accommodate up to 50 children aged 2½ – 6 years, from Grade 000 to Grade 0.

There are three qualified Montessori Directresses and three assistants.

As of January 2020 we are opening up a Toddler Group, and will accept children into this group from the age of 18 months. Once they are potty-trained and ready to move into the Foundation phase, we will move them up into the 2½ – 6 years group.

It is every parent’s wish to provide their child with the best possible opportunities in life to be all that they can be. Your child’s formative years are of utmost importance because that time period has such a strong influence on the rest of his / her life.

Therefore, choosing the correct Pre-School for your child is an important decision which can set the tone of their educational journey. It is a major step, and can also be an overwhelming decision. We must keep in mind that every child is unique with individual traits that require nurturing and development at a pace comfortable to that child. We encourage you to take the time to visit our truly amazing school, where you will enjoy a personal tour, given an opportunity to ask questions, meet with the Staff, see the students and visit the different Montessori learning areas. In this way, we trust that you will be well informed in making the best possible decision for your child.

When your child starts with us, we will do our best to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible and ensure that your child feels loved, respected and safe.

A Montessori learning environment is like no other … our main objective at Ballito Bay Montessori Pre- School is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment which will help children to develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Respect and courtesy in our Montessori school is the foundation for everything we do and each child will soon learn the following important skills:

    • how to put their work away where they found it
    • how to tidy up after themselves
    • the importance of helping a friend in need
    • the importance of respecting the materials, the teachers and each other
    • how to tuck in their chair when they leave the table
    • how to walk in the classroom
    • how to be self-directed and find their own ‘work’ and most importantly,
    • how to be independent!

Each child will feel empowered at Ballito Bay Montessori and learn how great it feels to do things on their own! Each Montessori Directress (teacher) is here to nurture, support and guide them each and every day and we are committed to making your child’s Montessori preschool experience productive, stimulating and fun!

Through the materials in a Montessori environment, the child is placed at the centre of learning, exploration and discovery. The structure of our classroom encourages students to work together, share and learn from one another. This assists and teaches children to become self-disciplined, respectful and have a sense of team spirit.

Our work cycle and prepared environment also refines concentration, self-control and motivation. Research has revealed that millions of children around the world have benefited with a solid, independent learning foundation through Dr Maria Montessori’s philosophy and method since she opened her first school in 1907.

We will be honoured if you choose our school and we, at Ballito Bay Montessori, are confident that this will be the best foundation for your child’s educational journey. With our small classes and individual attention, Ballito Bay Montessori is your child’s home away from home.
